Founded in 2004, GAPMET represents an interdisciplinary, intercultural network of music educators who strive to understand and promote music learning and education especially in elementary schools. The Association collaborates with educational and cultural organizations, governmental cultural departments, local authorities, educational institutes, universities, music schools, parents’ associations, pupils and students of music schools as well as a number of cultural and scientific associations in Greece and abroad. It organizes and promotes educational programmes addressed at music teachers aiming at their professional and personal development. It is located in completely autonomous building with computer room, library, conference room and secretary. GAPMET΄s staff includes 2 Managers, 3 Researchers, 2 Technical and 1 Administrative.

Dr Maria Argyriou currently holds a post doc position in the Department of Preschool Education Sciences and Educational Design of the University of The Aegean in Rhodes, Greece, as well as the position of Special Teaching Staff in Music Education. Her scientific interests embrace research procedures-projects reinforcing philosophy of music education, culture as well as practice and research in Integrated Music Education. She belongs to the PRIME (ISME SIG) international network and is a member of the steering group on EMP MATHS project

Dr Elissavet Perakaki is a director and a music teacher in a High School in Pireaus (Greece). She holds a Ph.D in the field of Music Education (University of Athens, department of Musical Studies, 2009). She has worked in primary and secondary schools and in conservatories. She is a member of the Board of Experts on EMP MATHS project

Georgios Sitotis is a music teacher in primary schools in Athens (Greece). He holds a M.Ed. in Humanities Studies (University of The Aegean, department of Pre School Education and Educational Design). He is currently working as a choir conductor and as a music tutor in conservatories. He is a member of the Board of Experts on EMP MATHS project

Maria Magaliou has been a music teacher in Primary Education since 1996. She holds a Degree in Pre-school Education (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), a Master’s Degree in Music Education (The University of Reading, U.K.) and a PhD in Music Pedagogy (Ionian University, Greece). She currently serves as Co-ordinator of Cultural Education in the Third Directorate of Primary Education of Athens. She is co-author of the book that is currently taught in the first and second grades of primary schools in Greece. Her scientific interests include early childhood music education and the relationship between the arts and other school subjects.



 

Katerina Gerali holds a diploma of the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education (University of Athens). She has been a primary teacher since 2006 at the Private Primary School “TAXIARCHIS”, which belongs to her family. She is interested in the integration of Information and Communication Technologies in education. The theme of her graduation work was: “The critical thinking and teaching”. Her research interests lie in the cultivation of critical thinking through the use of New Technologies in the education process. She is member of the Greek Association of Primary Music Education Teachers (GAPMET).

Goulas Charalampos holds a diploma in Computer Engineering & Informatics as well as an MSc in Computer Science from the Univeristy of Patras. He currently is a PhD candidate at the same university with scientific interests including Machine Learning and Statistics. Over the past years he has been an active member of the Information Systems & Business Intelligence Laboratory providing assistant work in many academic courses as well as involving in the development of numerous information systems either as a data analyst or as a software engineer.

Agorakis Bompotas holds a diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras and he is currently a postgraduate student in Computer Science in the same university. His scientific interests include Distributed Systems, Data Mining and Information Retrieval. Over the past years, he has worked as a software engineer in various companies and has been involved in the development of numerous applications.
