The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) was founded in 1968 and awarded the International Excellence in 2010. It has three campuses out of which Bellaterra is the biggest, home to most of faculties, departments, institutes and services, as well as to a scientific and technological cluster and the Research Park. The UAB has 28.000 degree students and 9.000 master and doctoral students; among them, 6.000 from abroad. The teaching and research staff is of 3.600. UAB is number one in Spain in applied research according to World University Rankings.

The Faculty of Education, created in 1992, offers degrees in Early Childhood (Pre-school) and Primary Teaching, Social Education and Pedagogy as well as 9 Master Secondary Education, School Management and Music Education, to adult education. The Faculty is renowned for its quality and innovation in research, which has increased with a growing number of publications in international journals. It has a long tradition in both initial and continuing teacher training. Thus, there is experience in designing CPD courses, conducting workshops and publishing books and other materials for teachers.

Carmen Carrillo is a senior lecturer in music education at the International University of Catalonia, Spain, and has been a visiting scholar in Australia and Portugal. She holds a PhD in Music Education. Her research interests focus on different aspects of teacher professionalism and identity, teacher education and interdisciplinary learning through music. On this project, Carmen has mainly contributed to the preparation of the theoretical framework.

Dr Albert Casals is a senior lecturer in music education at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He is currently vice-dean of the faculty and coordinates the practicum. His main line of research focuses on the relationship between music and other school subjects, always taking a theory/practice approach. Albert is a member of the board of experts on this project, having gained previous experience on another Comenius European (Erasmus+) project also focused on interdisciplinary learning.

Dr Cristina González-Martín is a lecturer in primary music education at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and at the University of Barcelona (UB), Spain. She also teaches music to children – from two to 12 years old – in a music school. Cristina is a member of the board of experts on this project, as well as coordinating the Catalan working group of pilot teachers.

Dr Jessica Pérez-Moreno is a lecturer in early childhood music education at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain, and an honorary research associate at the Institute of Education, University College London. She is a member of the ISME Commission for Early Childhood Music Education (ECME). Her role on the project is mainly concerned with management.

Montserrat Prat is a lecturer in early childhood and primary mathematics education at the Autonomous University of Barcelona – UAB and also at Barcelona’s Ramon Llull University. She holds a PhD in Didactics of Mathematics and a BSc in Mathematics. Montserrat is a member of the board of experts on this project, as well as coordinating the Catalan working group of pilot teachers.

Dr Laia Viladot is senior lecturer in music education at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She is currently the module leader of the MA in Music Didactics and coordinates the practicum for music in early childhood at this institution. She belongs to the PRIME (ISME SIG) international network, among others. Laia is a member of the steering group on this project, having gained previous experience on another Comenius European (Erasmus+) project also focused on interdisciplinary learning.
